My hope is that this site provides practical information for employers
regarding the latest developments in employment law. Because I have
the privilege of living and practicing law in Arkansas, this site will
focus on the development of
employment law in Arkansas. Having
represented my corporate clients across the U.S., I’m also interested
in employment issues as they develop in other parts of the country.
I
have practiced employment law for twelve years, and I currently spend
most of my time defending employers in litigation. I also worked
in-house for eight years as employment counsel at Alltel
Communications, Inc., a Fortune 500 company. As in-house counsel, I
learned the importance of providing legal services in a cost-effective
manner. I developed my employment litigation skills as a Senior
Associate in the Employment Law Group of Davis Wright Tremaine, a
400-attorney firm headquartered in Seattle, Washington.
The employment law services Cox, Sterling & McClure can provide include:
- Representation
of employers in all aspects of employment litigation, mediation, and
arbitration, including EEOC and DOL charges and investigations.
- Advising
clients on wage and hour compliance, accommodating disabled workers,
family and medical leave, minimizing the liability of terminations,
downsizing strategies, and union avoidance.
- Negotiation and
drafting of employment agreements, including executive compensation
agreements, employee separation agreements, bonus and retention plans,
intellectual property agreements, and confidentiality/non-competition
agreements.
- Providing employment-related due diligence for
business acquisitions, including review of employment policies and
practices, existing litigation, and charges of discrimination.
- Enforcing and challenging non-competition agreements.
I
practice law with my friends and partners, Cade Cox and David Sterling.
We attended law school together and have each been practicing since
1997. We often work together to provide the best solution for our
business clients. You can learn more about our practice at Cox, Sterling & McClure, PLLC.
